I’m just going to say it … I like graffiti!
I know graffiti is commonly seen as the bane of strata title buildings and I empathise with all those buildings, committees, managers, owners and graffiti removal businesses.
But, I don’t care.
And, here’s a story from Los Angeles that will either horrify you or bring a wry smile to your face.
A bunch of graffiti artists broke into a 40 storey LA skyscraper that had been empty and boarded up since 2019 with no real development or re-use plan and with spray-painted colourful block letters that read, “Crave,” “Dank” and “Amen,” among other phrases on each level so that they’re visible from all over the city. Despite some outrage, there are LA city officials and academics aren’t unhappy and one of them is quoted as saying ‘This is people taking it upon themselves to use a space that in many ways was abandoned by people with money and power,”
So, which option is better pending this building’s future?
An abandoned building slowly deteriorating and looking sadder.

Colourful expressions of creativity, rebellion, street life, youth and civil disobedience.
