Tropical Modernism is an architectural style that’s strangely familiar in Australia
One of the reasons I ended up working in strata titles is because of my interest in architecture and the built form. I expect that’s true for many other people.
But, when we get sucked into doing our day to day jobs we don’t stop to remember and enjoy that feature of our work and business choice.
So, here’s a very interesting documentary about the development of an architectural style called tropical modernism in Africa that covers both the design, style and construction aspects of buildings but who that was shaped by politics and guided cultural development in Ghana in the 1960s to become a symbol of freedom, modernity and progressiveness.
Maybe there’s lessons for us in relation to our own buildings.
Plus, this style feels strangely familiar to me from my earlier days of summer holidaying in coatal Australia.
Enjoy.
