NSW Fair Trading, Strata Knowledge and some leading sector academics are running a series of focus groups for strata owners [and others] to review current strata management agreements and develop a standard-form agreement for consultation.
They’re being coordinated and run by Dr Nicole Johnston, Prof. Peter Butt, and Prof. Cathy Sherry in a few Sydney locations between 21 and 28 July.
It’s hoped that they will help understand feedback on contracting practices and management services that will inform policy and legislative decisions, and [possibly] be used to develop a standard form strata management agreement.
Dr Johnston says:
‘The research will review critical issues raised by consumers, review and evaluate a sample of strata management agreements, evaluate relevant legislative provisions in other jurisdictions (both nationally and internationally), conduct semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, conduct focus groups with strata lot owners, identify exemplary agreements, conduct agreement evaluations (of drafted agreement).’
So, it’s a very rare opportunity for strata citizens to have a say without the filters that usually apply to strata sector commentary and government feedback.
So, if you’ve got something you want the NSW Government to focus on … here’s your chance.
Don’t waste it!
