The NSW REI’s Chief Executive, @Tim McKibin comments about the reasons for the recent problems revealed about strata manager practices recently in the press in this Australian Property Investor article, Bad press for strata managers shines light on strata costs and service.
In the article, Tim says a few things like:
‘It’s unfair to tar all strata managers with the same brush’
‘reports of alleged kickbacks, contracts being awarded to companies owned by the strata manager, a lack of accountability and other dubious practices have given the industry a bad name’, and
‘it comes back to competence and this starts with education’.
And, he concludes with the statement that:
‘If Government is serious about improving consumer outcomes when it comes to property, it must step up and ensure people are trained and educated in the right way.’
Is he right that more and better training will solve the problems strata citizens are and/or believe they are experiencing with strata managers?
