In case you didn’t know NSW strata managers need to undertake regular training as a condition of their licensing as Continuing Professional Development.
Each year [from July to June] class 1 or 2 licence holders must complete at least 5 hours of CPD training including options for:
in person classroom style training with less than 40 participants on a hour for hour basis, or
online interactive webinar style training with less than 40 participants on a hour for hour basis, or
purely online training on a half hour for hour basis [a total of 10 hours]
The training must cover the compulsory topics delivered by an approved CPD provider. And the 2024-2025 CPD year the compulsory strata manager topics are as follows, some of which must be standalone:
The NSW 2023-2204 strata law reforms.
Work health and safety obligations in strata management.
Best practice management of building defects, maintenance and repair.
The new Supervision Guidelines for strata managing agencies.
At less than 1 day per year that’s not a lot of training and the topics sound like essential work basics. So, whilst it’s better than nothing it ain’t much strata learning.
So, if you don’t want to be a strata nanager dunce, I’d suggest you get the best training you can and bit more than 5 hours per year.
