It’s hard to believe you could lose a strata building, but it is possible.
Let me explain.
I don’t mean that a strata building can vanish, as it’s stuck in the ground, is not going anywhere soon, and the strata owners, occupiers, managers and contractors know where it is.
But most strata buildings are invisible to outsiders who usually can’t easily identify the plan number from its location or the location from a plan number without some insider help or lots of formal property searches.
That makes it difficult to interact with strata buildings over day to day matters, on practical issues, for formal matters (like legal notices, demands, etc), and for marketing products and services to them.
But now in NSW anyone can get basic strata building information for free at the Strata Hub website with an address or plan number at this link.
It seems to be such a simple thing, but its very very useful and a long time coming.
So, well done @NSWFairTrading.
Now all we need is for the rest of Australia to do the same and for NSW to increase the range of publicly available strata building information on Strata Hub to include a building contact person’s details.
