It seems that even the best Australian strata title buildings can fall from grace as quickly as a dropped pot plant.
One Central Park was once the world’s best tall residential building. But, since late 2023, it’s been dealing with structural faults in the renowned green wall planter boxes and combustible cladding in the heliostat wielding façade.
That’s because one of the planter boxes fell to the footpath, some planter boxes have been removed, others are supported by ropes, and the NSW Cladding Taskforce has been trying to enforce orders against the strata building about the less flammable cladding on the building.
Perversely [or is it paradoxically] these building defects appeared just over 10 years after the building was completed, meaning they’re out of time for claims under the new rights created under the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 or the latest proposals for decennial insurance protections.
