The Australian Consumers Insurance Lobby says that it has referred 164 instances where they say ‘strata managers have been implicated in financially benefiting from the switching of insurance policies to brokers who then levy exorbitant fees and commissions’ to ASIC and the ACCC asking them to investigate them.
According to Tyrone Shandiman, many of the 164 complaints are based on his personal experiences and those of customers of this insurance broking business, Strata Insurance Solutions.
At this stage, ACIL hasn’t made the details of the complaints public [even though I’ve reached out for more information about them], so it’s hard to know what when they happened, what they show, and who’s involved. Maybe we will soon.
In the meantime, here’s what ACIL says about them.
You can find out more about ACIL and it’s team at the Daily Post Who’s Who at ACIL.
